This is just a quick post to share some photos of an extremely cool MR FREEZE Costume that was made by a friend of the Bat-Blog. His name is Paul and we're totally impressed with this awesome suit/props. Of course it's the version of the character from the older TV Cartoon, "Batman, The Animated Series". The likeness is very well done. I totally love the Glass Dome Helmet & Freeze-Gun, ha!
Comic Book Resources recently interviewed Paul Dini ( Comic Book & Video Game Writer ) and Kevin Conroy ( Voice Actor AKA Batman ) about their creative collaboration processes on both "Batman: Arkham City" and "Batman, The Animated Series". It's pretty good, check it out!

On Wednesday, every week, the Bat-Blog Website posts 2 Free BATMAN Backgrounds. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!" We always try to go with some theme or idea & BATGIRL seemed like a good subject. So, here we go! The 1st image is a close-up shot of a Batgirl Action Figure. It's from when she was in the Animated Series TV Cartoon. I know the image is kinda strange, but please try it as a desktop background, it's actually sort of fun! Now, speaking of TV. The next wallpaper is a publicity photo of Batgirl from the 1960's BATMAN TV Show. Of course this is the Actress Yvonne Craig & she looks totally wonderful in her bat-suit costume, Hubba Hubba! The big piece of Batman News over the weekend was C2E2 where Kevin Conroy sort of kinda dissed Christian Bale's Batman Voice ! Yeah, at the Chicago Comic Book Convention event there was a panel of animation voice actors where somebody asked Kevin Conroy ( Batman: The Animated Series TV Cartoon & Batman: Arkham Asylum Video Game ) what he thought about Bale's version of Batman...check it out!!
Fans of Original Batman Comic Book Artwork are gonna totally love this! Up above is the Cover Art done by Mike Parobeck for issue #35 of THE BATMAN ADVENTURES. This was basically a tie-in for the Animated Series Cartoon & done in the exact same style. Personally, I have always loved the TV Show so the comics they made were great too because you got the same great graphics. (( Please be sure to click on the pic up above for a way larger, more sharp, picture )) The minimal-clean artwork is totally beautiful! Also, the cover features both Batman & Catwoman so that's kind of cool too.
Here's a very clever BATMAN TATTOO sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Zachary. He totally loves BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES & to prove it his tattoo shows 3 frames from the Animation Storyboard for the cartoon's opening intro. WOW! That's very original & actually very very cool! He said he got the image from the BATMAN ANIMATED Book by Paul Dini & Chip Kidd. I love that book. It's a great "behind the scenes" look at the making of the TV Show. It came out a few years ago & is a total fan-favorite among many Batman Collectors ( For more info I posted an Amazon link at the bottom of this post ). I wanna thank Zachary for sending in this wonderful photo & also give him props for getting such a unique bat-tat! I know that we recently hyped the fact that this week's BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD will be the brand-new episode where Kevin Conroy ( Original Batman: The Animated Series ) was going to make a guest voice appearance. Well, Both Warner Bros & The Cartoon Network have gone through some major TV broadcast schedule shuffling & the new episode will not appear until the end of March. I know the title for this post is kinda lame. I know I'm suppose to come up with something funny or extremely clever but I'm just not in the mood this morning, OK? ha ha! So, let's get right to it. Recently the Bat-Blog made a new friend in Taiwan named Jerry. Right off the bat he sent us some amazing pictures of Batman Fandom from the other side of the world. OK, I know the Internet has been around for almost 3 decades now but I'm still amazed ( like a Caveman ) about the quick & easy communication with people from anywhere on the globe, it's like magic...I love it! Anyway, Jerry's a nice guy & really into Batman, so that's cool. The 1st pic is a display of some of his favorite Large-Size Toy Batmobiles. You have the Batmobile from the later Animated Series, the Tumbler from The Dark Knight movie, the car from Batman: The Animated Series ( I've always totally loved that car ), the Tim Burton movie car, the Futuristic Flying Batmobile from Batman Beyond, & one of the Vehicles from a later Joel Schumacher Film, Batman Forever. AWESOME!! It's really cool to see them all together like this! Plus, it's a very nice collection. Now the next group of 3 photos is a Japanese Magazine owned by Jerry. It looks like the main cover story is all about the incredible Dolls, Toys, & Action Figures made by HOT TOYS for the DARK KNIGHT movie. I can't read any of this, ha ha, but visually it looks so great & I really love it too! They covered the Christian Bale & Heath Ledger Figures, the Bat-Pod Motorcycle, the Giant-Size Tumbler Vehicle, & some misc ( mainly the Joker Art Bust ). I recently came across the website of an artist named Janet MacGregor. She lives in Vancouver, Washington & makes her living doing Custom Painted Murals for people. Her artwork is really nice & I was very impressed with this "Batman Room" she did ( Please click on the small photo up above for a larger photo with more detail ). One entire wall has a huge "Batcave Scene", complete with the Batmobile Car. It has the style of the "Batman: The Animated Series" cartoon, that's so awesome! The neat thing is that there is a secret door, that when closed, you can't see. You know I'm a HUGE fan of creativity & I thought everybody would get a kick out of seeing this! ASIFA-Hollywood has announced that Bruce Timm has been named one of the winners of the 2009 Winsor McCay Awards, granted in recognition for career contributions to the field of animation. The recipients will receive their trophies at the 2010 Annie Awards scheduled for February 6, 2010. Of course Mr. Timm is most know for his Art Direction in Batman: The Animated Series. Being that B:TAS is the VERY BEST Cartoon in the History of Animation, this award is well deserved! Congratulations Bruce Timm.
Hey Kids! Wallpaper! Every Wednesday we post a few exclusive Batman Backgrounds you can use to brighten your desktop. This week I thought I would show-off some examples of how super-creative a few Bat-Blog Fans can be! The 1st Wallpaper features a totally Custom-Made Batman Action Figure Toy made by our friend Nico, who lives in the Philippines. It's really great! The next pic is one that I really love because it was sent in by our buddy Xavier, who is only 9 years old, but he drew this wonderful Batman picture in the "Animated Series" style! OK, to make his image fit the "Wallpaper Format" I had to move a few characters around, ha ha! But you get the idea! This picture is totally amazing!! I recently met a guy named Joseph who just got a new Batman-related tattoo that I knew I had to share here because it's extremely cool! The bat-tat looks like Vintage Pin-Up Girlie Art with HARLEY QUINN, The Joker's Girlfriend. I like how there is a fake "Autographed Signature" next to her, that's clever. It's the "Batman: The Animated Series" version that, personally, I like the best! Overall the colors are bright & sharp...looks great! Thank you Joseph for sharing this with my readers. OK, right now I could not be more proud! Yesterday I received an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Fan named Xavier. He is 9 years old, in the 4th Grade, & really loves to draw comic book characters. He even has a cool website, called "Super Creations", where he shares his artwork. He also really really loves the Bat-Blog! In the letter he sent this picture he recently drew to help promote the Bat-Blog on his website. It's EXTREMELY SUPER-AWESOME!! Please be sure to click on it for a larger, more detailed, version. He drew a bunch of characters in the "Animated Series" style: Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, The Riddler, Bane, Clayface, & even Two-Face!! I totally love it & really appreciate it, it's great! Just a quick, funny, post: OK, This has got to be the greatest haircut in the entire human history of hairstyles!! It's a carved-out silhouette of Batman!! The graphic looks like something out of "Batman: The Animated Series" ...it's GREAT!! This will be MY next hairstyle, for real!
A friend on Facebook shared this link with me of an interview with Kevin Conroy at the HOBO TRASH CAN website( Thanks Jeff ). It's pretty interesting & Conroy always seems to be great at giving interviews. His answers are always very precise & direct. He talks about what it has been like to be the voice of Batman for so long & even gets current with the new Batman: Arkham Asylum video game. It's pretty cool, CLICK HERE! to check it out!!
If you have been reading the Bat-Blog for awhile then you know I totally love ART & I think that these BATMAN RUSSIAN NESTING DOLLS fit that category to a tee! Both these sets belong to our friend known as "The BATFAN" & he was kind enough to send these wonderful photos ( Please be sure to click on them for larger, more detailed, versions ). The 1st Set sort of celebrates the many different Batman Movie characters. Besides Michael Keaton, there is: Catwoman ( Michelle Pfeiffer ), The Penguin ( Danny Devito ), & The 1989 Joker ( Jack Nicholson ). Wow! The artist made all of these characters look exactly like the actual people...that's cool! The next photo is a Set of Nesting Dolls with a BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES theme. I have always loved that cartoon & think the art direction on it is great. So, seeing these is just a true delight for any Batman Fan! The characters depicted here are Batman, Robin, Two-Face, The Penguin, Bane, & Gotham City. Yes, I have always considered "Gotham City" a character. It plays an important role in many Batman stories. I wanna thank The BATFAN for sharing these with us. It's always fun to see cool artwork that is inspired by our favorite Caped Crusader.
