Awhile back, here at the BAT-BLOG.COM, we featured a few photos of the work of some very creative people who have been inspired by Batman. One Artist was a guy named Pete & this photo was recently sent in to us. It's his Custom BATMAN BUST Statue, "Michael keaton" version. The previous photo showed the piece in an early stage of creation. Well, this pic was taken after it was all painted! My favorite part, and I know this is kinda dumb on my part, is the "Bat-Belt" design at the base. I don't know, that's kinda clever. But overall it's a great piece. A friend of mine sent me this photo he randomly came across in a Message Board on the Internet. I couldn't believe it, somebody went & got themselves a "BANE" Tattoo! Yes, this image is the "Actor Tom Hardy" version. Now, the artwork is decent & the Tattoo is pretty nice, but what if the movie sucks? I remember a year or two ago when we were covering the last Batman movie pretty hard. The same thing happened then. Before THE DARK KNIGHT movie was released, even while it was still being filmed, a lot of people went out & got JOKER TATTOOS based on publicity photos. I had the same fears then but once the movie came out everything was cool because Heath Ledger gave an amazing performance & the Joker character ( and movie ) was actually great, whew! Let's hope these "Bane Tattoo" people have the same luck.
I recently got an email from a Bat-Blog Fan who said that he wants to get a Batman Tattoo in the "Animated Series" Art Style ( Awesome! ). He plans on having Batman & another Villain. His 2 choices for the bad guy are either The Riddler or Mr. Freeze. He said that his main problem is trying to find some decent graphics to use. He's done a Google "Image Search" & came up with nothing. I tried too & was surprised by how little there was online. So, this post is to ask Bat-Blog Readers out there if YOU have any decent pics, or ideas where to find them, then please shoot us an email. Now, my idea is for him to hit a Comic Book Store & dig through the back issues. There were a few different titles that had the "animated series" characters. The graphic up above is an example. I think if he dug into a few of these books he could find some comic panels that have awesome graphics.
Here at the Bat-Blog we love it when Batman Fans get creative & use their inspiration of the character as a means to create ART! Here are 2 great examples: The 1st photo is a sculpture bust made by our friend Pete. It's in the early stages, but it will be used to make a latex mask bat-cowl. Now the funny thing is that Pete told me this was going to be a "Keaton BATMAN Movie" version, and he didn't even need to say that. I mean, just look at it, IT IS TOTALLY Michael Keaton!
Next up is a Bat-Vehicle I saw awhile back on eBay. It's a Custom Golf Cart designed to look like the Tumbler Batmobile from the recent Batman movies. Now, I don't play golf, but I would completely love to own this cool toy! ( Hint, Hint: My birthday is in January, ha! )

The Bat-Blog was recently blessed with a preview of a brand-new illustration by famed Graphic Designer Christopher Franchi. He's the Art Director for Metaluna 5 Media, which handles a lot of licensed properties like: KISS, Bettie Page, Alice Cooper, Star Trek, Superman, Spawn, Peanuts, Evil Dead, Betty Boop and the list goes on & on. Here is an EXCLUSIVE & Super-Awesome 1966 BATMAN WALLPAPER Chris created for the BAT-BLOG! Well, he did all the artwork & I put the Bat-Blog Logo on it, ha! Now, of course, this image relates to the 1960's BATMAN MOVIE because it shows Lee Merriwether as Catwoman. Plus, it's got the other Super-Evil Villains: The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), The Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), and the Hero himself, BATMAN ( Adam West )! The artwork is extremely amazing! The illustrations were all done on Cold-Press Art Board with Gouache and Colored Pencil. Then, they were scanned and assembled digitally. I like how each character has their own colored-outline, to make them sort of pop-off the page. There is also that "light ray" effect that's pretty freakin' cool!! ( Thanks Christopher, I know everybody is going to totally love this incredible Bat-Art!! )

This is just a quick post to share a BATMAN Desktop Background Wallpaper I made the other night using some very current artwork of BATMAN from the New JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 Comic Book Issue.
In Pittsburgh, at the TOONSEUM, they're having an Comic Art Show called "SUPERHEROES : ICONS & ORIGINS". Basically it's an Art Gallery showing of Vintage Comic Book Art. Now, it was going to end on July 31st but now they have been extended it through August 21st. For more information, click HERE!
Awhile back, right here on the Bat-Blog, we featured some amazing artwork by an Artist named Christopher Franchi. He did this piece that combined a classic iconic image of Batman and Robin, by Carmine Infantino, & he recreated it in the drawing style of Golden Age Comic Book Artist Dick Sprang. I mean, if you're familiar with both of these Artists you can see the combination and it's an extremely awesome image. Well, Chris got it licensed by DC Comics & now it's a Limited Edition Fine Art Print ( only 75 will be made, so, very limited ). It's pretty BIG, measuring about 24" X 36" and is printed on a sturdy, high quality, card stock. It is also signed by the Artist. A Friend shared this link with me the other day where it shows an Artist's work that is completely amazing. This guy has recreated a bunch of Vintage Comic Book Covers in Stained Glass. The effect is pretty cool! His name is Brandon Barker & here is his tribute to Detective Comics #31, which first appeared in 1939 & is a total classic. I mean, it's actually an icon! The story of this book was titled "Batman Verses The Vampire ( Part 1 )" & was the 1st introduction of the "Mad Monk" Villain Character. To check out other work by this Glass Artist just click HERE!
A friend on Facebook recently turned me on to the artwork of an Artist named Liam Braizer. He makes extremely cool images using only geometrical shapes that have unique coloring to create depth & form. It's very abstract & his stuff is pretty cool! Shown here is an example of the Dark Knight but he has also done one with Superman & some of my favorites ( besides the DC Superheroes ) is awesome STAR WARS characters, click HERE to check it out.
Here's a very special photo that I actually stole from a friend's website, ha! I mean, it was just way too cool NOT to steal, ha! Our friend, Marc Nobleman, is writing an extensive Biography on BILL FINGER, the Golden Age Comic Book Writer who helped co-create BATMAN. Finger has never got any credit & is sort of an unsung hero among serious Batman Fans & People who love comics. The book won't be out until next year and we're dying to read it!
OK, about the photo. Marc has been traveling all over the United States interviewing every single person he can find who knew or worked with Bill Finger. One guy is Carmine Infantino. Yes, the Legendary DC Comics Editor, Writer, & Artist! Marc went to his house! While there, he took a visit to the restroom & what did he see? In Infantino's Bathroom there is a framed signed drawing of Batman sleeping on Snoopy's Dog House... drawn by Charles M. Schulz himself!! Oh man, what a piece of Bat-History! This has gotta be the ONLY example of the Dark Knight drawn by this Iconic Cartoonist!!
The BIG BATMAN NEWS right now is that Warner Bros released a Teaser Movie Trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES recently during the new HARRY POTTER film. Now, we don't have a copy of this thing yet, nobody does. But we'll be posting it as soon as it's available, please stay tuned. But, in the mean time, one cool thing is that it totally inspired an Artist named Scott McMahon ( aka Scoot ) who lives in Rossford, Ohio. Scoot drew this black and white drawing of BATMAN in honor of "The Dark Knight Rises" Movie... it looks pretty cool, check it out! ( Thanks Scoot )

I'm sad to report that Gene Colan has passed away. He was 84 years old. Most Comic Book Collectors & Fans will for sure know who this incredible Artist is because he worked in the business for many years. He co-created Blade ( The Marvel Comics character that became a Wesley Snipes movie ). His work on Howard The Duck & Daredevil is classic pop culture. I fondly remember his artwork from my childhood. He drew Batman comics & covers with great skill & I have always been a huge fan of his work. He will be missed. Thank you for your wonderful contributions Mr. Colan, RIP.
It's with a heavy heart that we, here at the Bat-Blog, have to report the passing of a Comic Book Legend & a Pioneer of the Batman character. We're talking about the Artist Lew Sayre Schwartz. He was a major contributor during the early development of the Dark Knight. He was 85 years old & will be deeply missed. We wish to extend our deepest condolences to both his Friends & Family. Over at the "Golden Age Comic Book Stories" Website a Blogger scanned a few 1940's BATMAN SUNDAYS from the New York Sunday Mirror Tab Sections. They're all from 1946. The Artwork is by Jack Burnley, among others. They are all a total joy to read & the vintage graphics are completely beautiful. I've attached one as an example ( Click on it for a larger, more readable, version ), but to see them ALL just click HERE!
The BAT-BLOG recently had a fan named Thomas send us these pictures to share and they're pretty interesting. Thomas has a friend who is a Sculptor & Product Designer who does custom artwork with metal. Thomas said, "I always thought it was pretty cool and he made really awesome stuff, but I never thought it would be anything I'd want to buy... until NOW!" Ha! What he's talking about is this amazing BATMAN SYMBOL LOGO Wall Relief Sculpture. Meaning, that it has a sort of 3D quality about it. Batman Fans will all know the symbols used here. Basically we got the "Classic Yellow Oval", then the more "Modern-Day" version. Then on top of that is the current logo used for the movie franchise...WOW!
