Well, at this year's 2011 Comic Con a few lucky people got to see the new DC Universe Animated Movie BATMAN: YEAR ONE. The reviews have been decent so that's cool. I guess the rest of us will have to wait for the DVD or Blu-Ray & Digital Download ( Oct 18th ).
The LEGO Toy Company and Warner Brothers have recently announced that they will be teaming up to bring LEGO SUPER HEROES to life! With the popularity of the BATMAN toy line they have decided to bring all the other DC Comics characters to the fold. But don't hit your local toy store tonight, these are set to have a release date of January 2012.
The new LEGO DC Universe SUPER HEROES collection will feature 13 iconic Super Heroes in LEGO mini-figure form, including: Batman, Robin, Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Bruce Wayne, Superman, Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman. As a side note: LEGO has plans to kick off a promotion that will take place from August to December in 2011 in advance of the launch. Warner Bros created a website for their next DC UNIVERSE DVD Movie, BATMAN: YEAR ONE. It's online now but really doesn't have any content yet. DC Direct just announced a brand-new BATMAN Statue that will be coming out later this year. It's a Maquette Figure based on the BATMAN: YEAR ONE character from the DC Universe Animated Original Movie DVD. Oh man, it's beautiful! I like the retro-style. It was sculpted by DEREK MILLER. This hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain Maquette-Statue of BATMAN will be released on September 27th, 2011. It will measure about 9.8" high x 7.75" wide x 5" deep. Also, it's a Limited Edition. The Retail price will be around $ 125.00. Remember, stay tuned to the Bat-Blog for all your Batman Collectibles News.
In this promo, finally, we get to see some of the ideas about the next DC Universe Animated Film, BATMAN: YEAR ONE. Of course it's an adaptation of Frank Miller & David Mazzucchelli's classic Graphic Novel. The Animation Team seems to really want to be true to the original source. In this sneak peek we get introduced to many of the Voice Actors, many are excellent choices. I just wish we could see more "cartoon clips" of the actual DVD product, but this is a teaser so I guess we'll have to wait.
Be sure to keep an eye out later this year for Mattel's new DC Universe Classic Action Figure "MAD LOVE" 2-Pack Set featuring the Joker & Harley Quinn. But remember that you won't find these everywhere because they are a Toys-R-Us Exclusive. Something sort of interesting: The position of the characters inside the packaging is based on Alex Ross' iconic Painting "Tango With Evil" ( see pic below ). The figures look great but I love some of the accessories - Harley's Giant-Gun and Hammer, Joker Playing Cards, Joker's Cane & Mallet, plus... a Joker Fish!
Well, apparently this is what the DVD cover art for the BATMAN: YEAR ONE - DC Universe Animated Movie is going to look like. It's a great image that I think would make an awesome poster. The projected release date for this film is September 27th, 2011. But that could easily change so please be sure to stay tuned to the Bat-Blog for later info.
In a brief interview with MTV Bruce Timm talks about BATMAN YEAR ONE , the next DC UNIVERSE Animated Movie! He talks about how loyal the film will be to the original Graphic Novel by Frank Miller & David Mazzucchelli.
Finally! DC Universe is finally starting to release some images from their next animated film, BATMAN: YEAR ONE. Of course we're talking about the animation-version of the famous Frank Miller & David Mazzucchelli Graphic Novel by the same name. Today, The Hollywood Reporter got some EXCLUSIVE images from the movie. We also get a list of the voice actors: Bryan Cranston ( AMC's Breaking Bad ) is playing Jim Gordon, Ben McKenzie is Bruce Wayne / Batman, Eliza Dushku is Selina Kyle / Catwoman, and Katee Sackhoff is Detective Sarah Essen.
Here's one of those "Cinematic Motion Comic" Promo Videos for the DC Universe Online Video Game. This one features HARLEY QUINN & she's crazy in love with the Joker! To make it they used Batman comic book artwork by Jim Lee, a bonus!
Here's a prototype picture from the recent 2011 Funko Toys Catalog showing the 2nd Wave of DC Universe POP! Vinyl Figures. Now the main reasons I'm listing them here is because one of them is Batman-related, Two-Face! But the other Superheroes are cool as well: Hawkman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, & Shazam! Right now there is no exact release date but I'm guessing sometime around August. Stay tuned to the Bat-Blog & we will let you know ( We'll also have some sharp photos of the actual products as soon as possible ).
OK, Since the Bat-Blog is ALL about the Dark Knight I'm just posting photos of the Batman-related statues, Batman and Catwoman. But before I get ahead of myself, here's the deal. For 2011 DC Direct is coming out with a huge set of statues to celebrate the entire DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game world. They measure approx. 7 1/2" tall & are cold-cast porcelain. They're also based on the comic book art of Jim Lee. So far there are 10 statues planned to be released in small waves during 2011 but I think they will add even more once the video game becomes very popular. Who are the characters made so far? You have Batman, Catwoman, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Zatanna! If you would like to see them then just click the button down below.
OK, right off the bat I gotta say, "I'm sorry for the delay!" I was going to list the lucky winner of the recent Bat-Blog Contest last night but I feel asleep & slept for almost 10 hours, seriously! I have been sleeping extremely erratic hours lately & was totally exhausted. I feel a lot better now, ha ha! Now it's 5:30 am & I'm awake. Yes, bummer. But this is the "Official Contest Winner Announcement", I promise. First of all I wanna thank our good friend THE BATFAN for donating this statue for the contest. You have to admit that's a very generous thing he did. So, thank you very much to THE BATFAN! Second, I wanna thank everybody who entered. This was one of the most successful contests we have ever had, many many many people entered! OK, I have had the name of the winner for at least a day now. The other night, at midnight, I pulled a random number out of a hat & checked the list of entries to find that Michael I. of Huntington Beach, CA is the lucky winner! Michael, you're gonna totally love this Special BATMAN STATUE BUST, it's AWESOME! Please contact me to confirm that we have the correct mailing address & I'll get this baby out to you soon.
