The Wacky ARTWORK of CHRIS MASON - 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW George Barris Custom Cars Tribute

OK, Even if you're not a BIG FAN of the '66 BATMAN TV Series then you still have to admit that this artwork is pretty AWESOME!! These "1966 BATMAN" Drawings were done by our ultra-talented friend Chris Mason. He was actually commissioned by another friend, Jim Edwards. The 1st one features Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder ( Adam West & Burt Ward ), riding in the Classic "George Barris" Batmobile! The 2nd one shows The Joker ( Cesar Romero ) in his Jokermobile!! Just in case you're not familiar with this Joker Car, it was featured in the TV show & I posted a reference photo showing how it looks today at the Petersen Automobile Museum in Los Angeles, CA.

One last thing: BOTH of these graphics are placed here as BATMAN WALLPAPERS so please be sure to use them to brighten you desktop today! Oh yeah, and a special THANK YOU to Chris & Jim for allowing us to post these Masterpieces of ART!

1966 BATMAN TV Show - Uncle Sam PSA Propaganda P osters

While surfing through the evil eBay the other day I came across a Graphic Artist selling these BATMAN "I Want You" PSA POSTERS ( Public Service Announcement ). Of course they're all a parody of the classic UNCLE SAM Army Enlistment Propaganda Posters from World War II, but they feature characters from the 1966 BATMAN TV Show! I think they look pretty cool! We get to see Batman ( Adam West ), Robin The Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ), and Batgirl ( Yvonne Craig ). The funny thing is that the Batgirl Poster says, "I want you to return all your books to Gotham City Public Library". You see, in the television series Batgirl was also Barbara Gordon, who was a Librarian in Gotham, ha ha!

1966 Batman and San Francisco Fire Department Team-Up!

Check out this extremely cool Batman-themed T-Shirt used to promote the San Francisco Fire Department, specifically "Engine 26" in Diamond Heights. The design looks a lot like the opening title graphics for the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. Now, speaking of that TV series, somebody went to a Comic Book Convention where all the actors posed with the T-Shirt. There is Adam West ( Batman ), Burt Ward ( Robin, The Boy Wonder ), Julie Newmar ( Catwoman ), & the 1966 Batmobile Car Designer, George Barris!

Holy Canine Cuisine, Batman!

Well, it looks like Robin, The Boy Wonder, is in the dog food business now. To be more precise, I'm talking about Burt Ward, the actor who played Dick Grayson / Robin in the 1966 TV series. For the last few years Ward & his wife have been running a Large Dog Adoption Service called GENTLE GIANTS. We reported that here before on the Bat-Blog. But the cool thing is that they have now come out with their very own brand of dog food. They named it after the charity, GENTLE GIANTS. They have 2 different sizes for sale: Large is 37 1/2 pounds & $34.99. Medium is 17 1/2 pounds & $19.99. If you would like some more information then be sure to click HERE!

Some Brand-New BATMAN FAN Websites Worth Checking Out!

Here's a quick post to sort of promote 2 very cool Batman-related Websites by some friends of the Bat-Blog. They're both brand-new & have a clever twist. The 1st one is called "HOLY SMOKES BATMAN!" & it's main focus is recounting ALL the different times that Robin ( Burt Ward ) said the phrase "Holy..." on the 1966 TV Series. There are actual audio clips of every phrase & if you check out the site then be sure to click on "Play The Entire Library" to hear them all & have a really great laugh! Our friend Jay did a great job on this site & it's a lot of fun. Just click HERE!

The next Batman-Fan website is actually a re-vamp of an older, existing page, except our friend Stephanie changed it around to the blogging format & it's really way better. It's called "BATMAN-CITY, The Ultimate Batman Trading Card Guide on the Web" & it's obsessive focus is collecting very detailed information about all the different Batman Trading Card Sets & Promo Cards from around the world. You know how I am totally goo-goo over "the foreign stuff" so I'm really liking it so far, ha ha! She just recently started this blog but if it become 1/2 as detailed as her other "Reference Guide" website then it should be quite good...keep an eye on it. Just Click HERE!

Vintage 70's Photo: Kids Dressed-Up as 1966 Batman, Robin, & The Penguin!

This photo cracks me up every time I see it, ha ha! Plus, the costumes are very impressive. This photo from a Color Slide was sent in by a friend named Ralph & it's a picture of some Batman-related Costumes his Mother made for Ralph when he was a little kid in 1974 or 1975. The details are insane & of course it's the 1966 TV Show version of the characters. He said that they used to wear these costumes & make small plays with them. Plus, while doing so, they would photograph each different sequence. Then later, when they projected the slides on the wall ( in correct order ) they sort-of had a Batman movie! Wow! This is really creative & must have been a lot of fun too! I also gotta say that Ralph's Mom did an incredible job on these costumes...they're really great! Thanks Ralph for sharing your story & this fun vintage family photo. If any other Bat-Blog Fans have similar experiences then please send us some pics!

The BAT-FAMILY Batman Costume Photo Shoot!

Last Halloween our good friends Dallas & Daria went to a fundraiser event dressed as Batman & Catwoman. They also dressed their son Xander as Robin, The Boy Wonder! The costumes were really awesome but the cool thing was that they had their family portrait done by a Professional Photographer. Here are the pics: The 1st one is sort of a regular family snap shot but it's so cool because they're all in costume. Now the 2nd one is my personal favorite because it's a little more creative & very cute. Daria is holding her son up in the air & he's laughing while Dad is proudly looking up at him, very sweet & a clever composition. I think when Xander gets to be a lot older he's going to really cherish all these photos. The last one is pretty good too. It's sort of an "action shot" where everyone is a little more dynamic. Overall they're all really great & so are the costumes. Thanks to the "Bat-Family" for sharing these wonderful photos, Good Job!

Custom ROBIN Batman Action Figure By John

Followers of the Bat-Blog might remember awhile back we showcased a few Batman Custom Action Figures made by our friend John. Well, he just sent us another photo of a recent design project. He made this Custom Robin Figure. Now, I was kinda curious about how he made it & this was his reply:
Robin uses a DC Infinite heroes Shazam head, Indiana Jones Mutt Williams torso and upper arms, Microman lower arms, Namor Superhero Showdown waist, SHS Human torch legs, and a whole lot of time with the Dremel and apoxy sculpt to shorten the legs and re-sculpt. Also a Kubrick Robin was used for his bat-belt.
Wow! I was kinda shocked it took so many different figures to make this one Robin, ha ha! But John did a very excellent job...it looks extremely cool! Thank you John for sending the photo & we look forward to seeing your future creations!

REFERENCE PHOTO: The Original ROBIN BATARANG From The 1966 Batman TV Show

Holy Movie Prop, Batman! Here's a very cool photo I found awhile back & have been meaning to share. It's a high-resolution photo of the Original BATARANG used by Burt Ward in the 1966 Batman TV Show. Of course he played Robin, The Boy Wonder! I think it's really neat to see original props like this. The paint is sort of a metallic-blue. Plus, it's an interesting part of Bat-History. ( Be sure to click on the above photo for a larger, more detailed, photo ).
