Just a quick post to share a few bits of BATMAN ARKHAM CITY Video Game news. First, in the UK, you'll be able to find this new XBOX 360 Magazine with The Joker on the cover. Then, here's another beautiful photo of the BATMAN ARKHAM CITY Billboard that was seen at this year's 2011 San Diego Comic Con.
Also, we have news on some brand-new "Foreign Exclusives".
We have already been hearing about all the Foreign "Collectors Editions" with different Batman SKINS. Now there's news of EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK Editions in other countries. The 1st two to surface ( and there will be many more probably, ha! ) is the UK Store SHOPTO & the Australian Video Game Store EB GAMES. For the UK edition they will have Two-Face on the back cover. Then, the Aussies will have the Joker ( I like the Joker one better ). It looks like you also get a cool 1970's Batman Skin plus a few other bonuses in each one. But, for the price, so far I'm thinking the "Collector Edition" would be better because you get the Batman Statue. These just have a "steelbook" case. I don't know, it's really too early to tell. I think we all need to see the final releases on all this stuff. Please stay tuned to the Bat-Blog.Com for more future news. Also, just a friendly warning. If you do buy any of the "Foreign" stuff, Please be sure to ask the retailer if these discs will work on "American" Game Consoles.
Last week the Bat-Blog announced the special appearance of JOE KUBERT for a Book Signing at Dewey's Comic City in NJ. Well, Ace Bat-Reporter BatDave went to the event & said it was fantastic! He said that, "Mr. Kubert was extremely nice & even signed stuff for free!" It's great to see that some Artists are not greedy, ha! but, I've always been told by Friends who have met this guy that he's very down to earth. So, that's cool. While there Bat-Dave had some of his personal comic books, favorites from his childhood, signed. He also got these great pics. The 1st one shows the legend himself, Joe Kubert! Oh man, I wish I could have been there. As a side note: the last image, of the classic comic book covers, I made that into a JOE KUBERT COVER ART Wallpaper Background you can use to brighten your desktop. Also, a special thanks goes out to BatDave for his awesome reporting skills!
OK, I decided the other day to go hit Wal-Mart & see what kind of Batman items I could find. If you're a Serious Bat-Collector then you know it's been really really dry lately. But that's cool because it allows us time to save a little money for stuff later, ha ha! But anyway, the trip to the famous retail store was kinda lame. The only new things I found were some Kid's T-Shirts ( Most of them have a LEGO BATMAN theme which is pretty cool ) & that's usually not something that I personally buy ( in fact, I didn't ). But, when I got to their "Seasonal Area", they were doing a "Summer Time - July 4th Theme" & they had this extremely awesome BATMAN 5 Foot long BEACH TOWEL! Oh man, the graphics are beautiful and it's the "comic book version" of Batman. The quality is really nice too & the thing is only 10 bucks, can't beat that! But if ya want one you better hurry because it's the very best selling one in the bunch. I mean, don't get stuck with Disney's Little Mermaid, ha! one last thing, if ANY Bat-Blog Fan out there sees ANY new Batman items, no matter what they are, then please let us know so we can share... Here's a quick little tip for all you Serious BATMAN Collectors out there! More than half of all Blockbuster Video stores are shutting down in late April (Yes! ) and they're blowing out all their DVD's and video games. But, most of these retail locations are ALSO selling their DVD Movie Shelf Cards for all their titles for only a NICKEL a piece!! (20/$1.00) These awesome shelf cards are made of durable plastic ( or laminated cardboard ) and they look really cool for display! Thanks to Bat-Dave for the 'heads up'!
We reported at the Bat-Blog awhile back about all the special DC COMICS 75th Anniversary merchandise that the Bloomingdale's Store had. It was some really cool stuff, mostly clothing & T-Shirts. Most of it was totally EXCLUSIVE & you could only get it there. But check out this photo of a display they had around Christmas. It was for "DYNAMIC DUOS NIGHT". They had these custom-made Batman and Robin Manikins to show where the line for Santa Claus starts!
A Good Citizen named Perry sent this wonderful photo with some very interesting information. The TRADER JOE'S store in Culver City, California, had a mural on its wall that pays homage to the 1966 Batman TV series ( click on the above photo for a larger, more readable version ). It reads, "Commissoner, The prices at Trader Joes are so low, it's GOT to be a crime!", ha ha! The underneath the mural there's a painted plaque that says, "BATMAN The Television Series was filmed in Culver City from 1966-1968." Awesome!! Thank You Perry, this is in deed a great piece of Bat-History!
